Participation Sought To Standardize Equipment Requirements for
Salt Spray Chamber Test
A Salt Spray Chamber Specification Task Group has formed under
ASTM Subcommittee G01.05 on Laboratory Corrosion Tests to define
the type of equipment needed to properly perform ASTM B 117, Standard Practice for Operating Salt Spray (Fog) Apparatus.
Users of B 117 will benefit from this standard because the equipment
requirements will be more standardized and hopefully eliminate
some of the variables found in salt spray testing, said Subcommittee
Chairman Cindy Meade, National Exposure Testing, Ohio.
The task group, led by Frank Lutze, ACT Laboratories, Mich., will
hold its initial meeting next month when ASTM Committee G01 on Corrosion convenes in Phoenix, Ariz. Participation is invited
from the paint and coatings, automotive, and aerospace industries,
test equipment manufacturers, and independent testing laboratories,
and other interested parties.
To participate, or for further technical information, contact
Frank Lutze, ACT Laboratories, Hillsdale, Mich., (phone: 517/439-1492;

Committee G01 on Corrosion of Metals meets May 9-11 in Phoenix,
Ariz. For meeting or membership details, contact G01 Staff Manager
Bruce Noe, ASTM (phone: 610/832-9719). //
