Pigments and Extenders Specialists Needed to Maintain and Develop
Standards
On behalf of Subcommittee D01.31 on Pigments, Chairman Bob Schiller
is inviting members of the pigments and extenders industries to
lead task groups that maintain or develop standards for:
Extenders, such as clays, calcium carbonate, silica, etc.; and
Organic pigments, such as phthalocyanine green/blue, etc.
The standards define testing and performance of materials used
in paints and other areas.
Chemical engineers, chemists, or other technical personal are
encouraged to join these activities with members of the subcommittee,
which falls under ASTM Committee D01 on Paint and Related Coatings,
Materials and Applications.
Schiller, a technical manager with Kerr McGee Chemical LLS, Oklahoma
City, Okla., said volunteers are urgently needed to maintain an
existing ASTM standard for phthalocyanine green which will be
pulled from the books if not maintained.
