Testers of COD Effluents Sought for Interlaboratory Study
An interlaboratory study is being coordinated to determine the
quality assurance, quality control, and precision and bias sections
of a new standard being developed, Standard Test Method for the
Determination of Chemical Oxygen Demand (Manganese III Oxygen
Demand) For Water.
These activities are being conducted by a task force of ASTM Subcommittee
D19.06 on Methods for Analysis for Organic Substances in Water,
operating within Committee D19 on Water. Task force chair Tom
Haukebo seeks individuals currently testing for COD (chemical
oxygen demand) in industrial or municipal effluents.
The existing standard test requires mercury and other hazardous
materials that will not be required in the proposed method, designed
to minimize hazardous re-agents.
Contact: Tom Haukebo, Hach Company, 5600 Lindbergh Dr., Loveland, CO 80539 (970/669-3050,
