If you’re a reporter looking for story ideas and information on technical standards, you’ve come to the right place. For over 100 years, the standards of ASTM International have had an impact on our every day lives.

It all started with our first standard, the A 1 Specification for Carbon Steel Tee Rails in 1901, which dramatically improved safety in the burgeoning railroad industry. ASTM offers published standards covering more than 130 technical areas.

Click on the images to the left for a glimpse into a few of the interesting ways in which ASTM standards play a significant role in our daily lives.
