Wayne P. Ellis Award - Guidelines

    WAYNE P. ELLIS AWARD

    ESTABLISHMENT OF THE AWARD

    The Wayne P. Ellis Award is conferred, as warranted, by Committee E05 in recognition of meritorious contributions to the cause of voluntary standardization, specifically with respect to fire standards. The award has been established by E05 on Fire Standards in honor of the late Wayne P. Ellis, ASTM President (1980) and an esteemed member of ASTM Committee E05 from 1970 until his passing in 1993.

    BASIS OF THE AWARD

    Any meritorious contribution, service or activity by an individual or group of individuals that has significantly advanced the cause of voluntary standardization, specifically with respect to fire standards.

    FORM AND PRESENTATION OF THE AWARD

    Presentation of the Wayne P. Ellis Award to the recipient shall be made at an annual awards function of Committee E05 by the Chairman of Committee E05.

    The Wayne P. Ellis Award shall consist of a suitable plaque bearing a suitable citation and signed by the Chairman of E05.

    A wall plaque to be display at ASTM Headquarters will bear the following citation:

    In Recognition of Meritorious Contributions to the Cause of Voluntary Standardization,

    Specifically with Respect to Fire Standards.

    ELIGIBILITY

    Any individual or group of individuals making meritorious contributions to the cause of voluntary standardization, specifically with respect to fire standards, is eligible for this award.

    There are no national or organizational restrictions on eligibility for this award (i.e., members of all ASTM technical committees and people who are not members of ASTM are eligible for this award).

    SELECTION

    Each year the Honors, Awards and Nominations Subcommittee of ASTM Committee E05 shall solicit in ASTM Standardization News for candidates.

    The Honors, Awards and Nominations Subcommittee of ASTM Committee E05 shall review the nominations and by a unanimous vote recommend one candidate annually to the E05 Executive Subcommittee who shall confirm the recommendation by a 2/3 vote.

    If, in the opinion of the E05 Honors, Awards and Nominations Subcommittee no award should be given that year or a nominee does not receive a 2/3 vote of the E05 Executive Subcommittee, no award shall be given that year.

    The Secretary of Committee E05 shall advise ASTM Headquarters of a successful nomination and ASTM shall notify the selected recipient. The Secretary of Committee E05 shall advise all sponsors of the disposition of the nominations.

    Any nominees not awarded the Wayne P. Ellis Award will be reconsidered for the award in each of the following two years.

    FUNDING

    Funding for the Wayne P. Ellis Award shall be provided from the E05 "General Fund". ASTM Committee E05 may solicit additional funds for the Wayne P. Ellis Award from members of Committee E05.
