Abstract

A discussion of necessary considerations for tension test specimen design of laminated angle-plied composite materials is presented. Particular attention is paid to the straight-sided axial coupon and the long-beam flexure test. A large amount of test data, including strain gage measurements, has been compiled to provide a basis of comparisons of tensile strengths and elastic properties of angle-plied boron/epoxy laminates by the two test methods.
