View License Agreement (a) These methods cover preparation of the sample and determination of the concentration of phenolic compounds in industrial water and industrial waste water. Phenolic compounds with a substituent in the para position usually do not produce color with 4-aminoantipyrine. However, para substituents of the phenol such as a carboxyl, halogen, hydroxyl, methoxyl or sulfonic acid group, are expelled. Such phenolic compounds produce color with 4-aminoantipyrine.
