Abstract

Table III gives the basic values of L and D for calculating Viscosity Index from kinematic viscosities in the range of 2.000 to 75.0 cs at 210 F. The values given in Table III are based upon those in Table I of the Standard Method for Calculating Viscosity Index (ASTM Designation: D 567), and are for substitution in Eq 2 of Method D 567. Values of L and D not listed, but which are within the range given in Table III, are obtained by linear interpolation. When the kinematic viscosity at 210 F is below 2.0 cs the values for L and D may be calculated by use of Eqs 3 and 4 in Method D 567. For kinematic viscosities over 75.0 cs at 210 F the values for L and D may be calculated by first converting the kinematic viscosity to Saybolt Universal viscosity and applying these values to Eqs 5 and 6 in Method D 567. Table III must be entered with kinematic viscosity at 210 F
