The Composition of Petroleum Distillates as Revealed by Their Sulfonates

Source

A heavy naphthenic and a light paraffinic distillate have been treated with fuming sulfuric acid. The sulfonic acids formed have been desulfonated. The structures of the oils thus obtained have been determined through physical measurements before and after exhaustive hydrogenation.
