Prevention of Ski Accidents in Switzerland

This paper reviews activities in the field of prevention of ski accidents in Switzerland. The use of statistical studies of accidents, measurements of loads during skiing and falling, case studies of accidents, laboratory tests, the development of testing programs, and setting tables for release bindings are discussed. The author believes that these efforts have contributed to the reduction in skiing risk and the improvement of equipment observed during recent years.
