Abstract

The purpose in presenting the activities of Working Group No. 4, Voltage Endurance, TC/15, IEC, is to inform members of Section L of corona test methods proposed by the IEC and of their tentative results. Such information should be helpful in establishing and evaluating corona test methods for ASTM. A second purpose of this summary is to encourage members of Section L to consider the IEC proposed methods and to inform the American Representative of Working Group No. 4 of their test results and their evaluation of such methods as an international standard. Working Group No. 4 is under the chairmanship of Mr. Langlois-Berthelot, Paris, France, and the proposed test methods and results reported on here are largely the results of his work. The scope of Working Group No. 4 presently includes aging studies of basic materials and built-up insulation structures which include solids in liquids.
