Abstract

Dirt can and has caused failures in gas turbine lubricating oil and fuel oil systems. How clean must these systems be? This can be determined, and, by proper construction, processes, control, and filtration, clean systems can be obtained and measured. Particle counts with no more than 12,000 particles over 5 μm in 100-ml sample are regularly obtained in heavy duty gas turbine oil systems.
