Abstract

This paper presents parameters that are useful in determining the characteristics of anisotropic sandwich constructions, particularly for orthotropic materials used as facings and cores. Described are effects of utilizing dissimilar facings, cores that have anisotropic features, and effects of layers having distinctly low shear moduli. Effects of anisotropy in arriving at minimum weight structure are discussed.
