Abstract

This paper deals with large-scale radioactive tracer studies, that is, ones in which tagged material undergoes a very large dilution, thus greatly lowering the specific activity of the samples to be analyzed. For such studies, one should best employ methods of counting which possess a high degree of concentration sensitivity. Such high sensitivity methods are discussed below and their uses in representative refinery-scale tracer studies illustrated.
