Proposed Method of Test for Interlaminar Shear Properties of Sizings and Binders for Secondary Reinforcements Using a Polar-Cut Ovaloidal Specimen

Source

The use of secondary reinforcements around off axis ports in rocket motor ngs or around openings in other filament-wound structures where the cipal reinforcements must be cut poses special problems in the testing of ngs and resinous binders. Methods of test must be developed for determining ability of the sizing and binder to transfer loads between the principal secondary reinforcements under conditions resembling those encountered he vicinity of ports or openings, accompanied by the problems of determining applicability and significance of data obtained from these tests to the selection or ptance of these materials.
