Abstract

Static tests have generally been used to determine the modulus of rigidity of the core of structural sandwich construction. However, the appreciable effect of the core modulus of rigidity on the natural frequencies of vibration of sandwich beams makes possible a simple, nondestructive dynamic test for the determination of this property. Such a test is described in this paper. The results obtained are reproducible and are believed to be more accurate than those obtained by presently employed methods.
