Abstract

A description is given of the cube method for determining the plastic limit of soils. The history of the development of this method and its advantages, particularly as applied to soils of low plasticity, are outlined. Data are presented comparing results by this method and by the ASTM thread method (D 424), and a correlation is developed. It is concluded that the cube method has a high degree of correlation with the ASTM thread method and may be used interchangeably with it.
