The Mechanics of Testing Irradiated Materials

Source

Irradiation testing of materials is a form of environmental testing that is needed to predict or assure the service performance of nuclear reactor components. It is conceivable that, in the future, standards may be written for reactor components, but a great deal of testing must precede the writing of such specifications. Accordingly, the nuclear materials engineer will be concerned with the environmental testing of irradiated materials for many years to come.
