Abstract

When it is desired to use the 65 per cent boiling nitric acid test as an evaluation method on a relatively large number of specimens, as in extensive research investigations or for routine inspection purposes, the amount of acid, apparatus, and laboratory space required frequently imposes a serious limitation on the number of tests that can be run in any reasonable time. This paper describes an apparatus in which a number of specimens can be exposed simultaneously, the use of which will result in appreciable savings in cost, acid, power, and laboratory space.
