Abstract

A study was run to determine the appropriateness of the proposed ASTM filter efficiency standard procedure [3] at the designated limits of latex sphere diameter and face velocity. An analysis of variance of filter performance from six laboratories was performed in the form of a 22 factorial designed experiment with the variable levels: latex sphere diameter (microns) at .62, .90, 2.02 and face velocity (cm/s) at 1, 5, and 25. Observations were also made on the precision of the ASTM F778-82 Gas Flow Resistance Of Filter Media Standard.
