Testing of Cylindrical Fuel Elements with the Cyclograph

Source

The objective of this work was to evaluate the usefulness of the Cyclograph for locating (1) voids and cracks in the bonding layer, (2) nonbonded areas, and (3) thin spots in the clad. The fuel elements tested were 1 in. round uranium rods encased in extruded 2S aluminum cans. The uranium was bonded to the can with an aluminum-silicon alloy.
