This paper discusses the protection of wood piles in place by means of barrier coatings. The economics of the problem indicate that an expenditure for a barrier coating equal to the cost of the pile is warranted if the barrier will reasonably prolong the pile life. Results of field tests of barrier coatings are presented. | ||
