Abstract

This Subcommittee was activated in 1942 to develop specifications and methods of test for bituminous emulsions. To elaborate on the scope somewhat, the subcommittee agreed that asphalt and coal-tar emulsions should be included. Also, end uses were to be confined to protective coatings for metal in order to avoid conflict with built-up roofing standards covered by ASTM Committee D-8 on Bituminous Waterproofing and Roofing Materials and road emulsions standards handled by Committee D-4 on Road and Paving Materials.
