Subcommittee II on Drying Oils is a relatively recent subcommittee, having been formed about 1939, but it continues the work of subcommittees which date back to the beginning of Committee D-1. In the early days of the committee there was a Subcommittee on Linseed Oil which developed the original specifications for raw and boiled linseed oil (now D 234 and D 260) under the chairmanship of R. D. Bonney.
