Creep and Recovery of A Zirconium-Tin-Columbium Alloy

Source

The creep characteristics of a 2Sn-2Cb zirconium alloy are expressed as a function of impurity content, heat treatment, and testing temperature, and the effects of these variables are described.

At the lower testing temperatures the creep behavior at constant stress and temperature conforms to the simple equation: ε=Bta where ε is creep strain, t is time, and B and a are constants. At higher temperatures the creep behavior can be described if the simple equation above is modified to take account of recovery. The observed variation of creep rate can be explained by recovery concepts only if the recovery rate depends on the strain level in addition to the strength level.
