Abstract

This paper is an overview of what to look for in inspection to prevent the problem of corrosion under wet insulation. To assure quality, do not limit inspection of thermal insulation systems to just the installation. Review the work of the designer as critically as you do that of the installer. An excellent physical installation cannot always cure a poor design. Inspect on a routine basis to look for “tell-tale” signs of pending failures and follow up with prompt repair.
