Abstract

Scientific principles of operation and general design considerations are given for sensors to monitor dissolved oxygen, turbidity, pH, conductivity, temperature, BOD. and specific ions. The importance of proper sampling procedures to the acquisition of valid data is emphasized. Solutions to problems encountered with continuous and semicontinuous monitors in the field and laboratory are detailed.
