Abstract

The process of thermal ratchetting has been investigated both analytically and experimentally, with a three-bar assembly used as a basis. Steel specimens have been tested under stress during thermal cycling between room temperature and 600 C. Good agreement between experimental results and an improved analytical treatment have been obtained.
