Abstract

The papers presented at the Symposium on Health Effects of Synthetic Silica Particulates covered a wide spectrum of subjects. They ranged from in vitro methods that may be useful for screening purposes to more lengthy in vivo experiments and clinical investigations, from the relationship between molecular configuration and biological sequella of some silicas to their effects on cellular organelles and the products of the latter, and from detailed pathological tissue changes to the resultant effects upon lung function.
