Abstract

At the Fifth International Conference on Soil Mechanics and Foundation Engineering (Paris, July, 1961) the Executive Committee of the International Society adopted a list of recommended symbols for soil mechanics terms. The list was compiled by an international committee and includes a number of terms adopted by the International Standards Association (No. 276, July, 1960).
