Abstract

This method provides a means for determining by elutriation the various sizes of the different particles in all types of soils from sand-clay and top soils to very heavy clays or sands. The percentage termed “silt” and the percentages of the coarser granular fractions are determined by a sieve test. The percentage termed “clay” is washed from the coarser particles and siphoned off while in suspension.
