Design and Strength of Screw Threads

Source

An analytical model has been developed to compute the strength of screw threads for mechanical fasteners. The model takes precise account of dimensional and mechanical properties in determining the ultimate assembly strength and mode of failure (bolt stripping, nut stripping, or bolt breaking) in the event of overloading.

This model was utilized as the basis for a Monte Carlo computer simulation to design the most suitable nut properties for industrial applications.
