Abstract

The original chapter on preplaced aggregate (PA) concrete was authored by B. A. Lamberton (deceased) former Vice President, Engineering, Intrusion-Prepakt, Inc. At the time of its publication, the only recognized standard test methods for PA concrete were those of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers that were based on the research and development work conducted at the University of California, Berkeley, under the direction of Professor Raymond E. Davis. Subsequent to Mr. Lamberton's original text, all of the Corps of Engineer test methods for PA concrete were adopted by ASTM Committe C9. These changes are reflected in the revisions to the chapter along with minor additions and corrections to the text, references, and bibliography.
