Abstract

In previous editions of this manual, there was a chapter on pore structure written by George Verbeck. The increased awareness of the role of transport mechanisms on concrete durability has prompted the inclusion of permeability in the chapter title. The introduction and section on the summary of porosity have been taken from previous editions that were originally written by George Verbeck and revised by W. L. Dolch in ASTM STP 169B. The bulk of this chapter was adopted from Nataliya Hearn's Ph.D. thesis [1].
