View License Agreement The plastic behavior of Zircaloy-4 (Zry-4) sheet specimens is examined by tension testing in air atmosphere at temperatures between 750 and 1050°C at cross-head speeds ranging over three orders of magnitude. The basic dependencies of the strain rate sensitivity index, m, upon temperature, strain rate, strain, and anisotropy are reported. Information about the grain structure behavior during superplastic (SPL) flow was obtained from metallographic, electron microscopic, and texture examinations, respectively. Microstructural examinations have brought convincing evidence that in the (α + β)-phase region α-grain switching is the dominating deformation mode in SPL flow at lower strains. | ||
