    Abstract

    Exact methods, based on dimensional analysis of the dependence of the load on crack length and displacement using deformation theory of plasticity, are used to obtain J from a single load-displacement record for different configurations. The methods also permit the evaluation of the crack length increment Δa, and hence, complete J-R curves can be constructed. Formulae for Tmat and Tapp are presented as well.
