Abstract

Crack front curvature (CFC) is shown to affect the K calibration of four special geometries for which analysis is currently practicable. The inference is drawn that assuming straight crack fronts in, say, test specimens having non-zero CFC may be non-conservative; the aim of this paper is to initiate further investigation of the effects of CFC.
