Abstract

The fatigue behavior of an SMC-R65 sheet molding compound under axial fatigue loading and in the presence of water and iso octane is investigated. There is about a decade decrease in fatigue lives for specimens tested in water as compared to those tested in air. The fatigue lives of specimens tested in iso octane range from those in air to those in water. SMC-R65 specimens immersed in water show clear absorption boundaries.
