As most commonly defined, this potential is the potential below which metals will not corrode by pitting or crevice corrosion. This report presents a discussion on how the protection potential, if it were accurately known, could be utilized to control corrosion of stainless steels. The results of four different experimental methods for determining the protection potential for American Iron and Steel Institute 304 (Unified Numbering System [UNS] S30400) stainless steel are presented and compared. | ||
