Abstract

Measurements of force and acceleration at the pile top during driving cab be used to detect the presence of damage at points along the pile below the ground surface. Analytical considerations based on one-dimensional wave mechanics are discussed, and a method is derived to place a quantitative measure on the degree of damage. Actual field measurements on damage piles are presented.
