Abstract

The use of methods of prediction of the performance of deep foundations is strongly encouraged. The paper presents models for both axially loaded and laterally loaded deep foundations and shows examples of the use of the models. Internal instrumentation that can be used in future load tests is discussed, along with load test procedures. Information from load tests of instrumented deep foundations will allow improvements in the methods of prediction of the behavior of deep foundation under various kinds of loading.
