Abstract

A review of the strength and endurance of current vascular prostheses. Data is referenced to demonstrate that endurance is a property separate from strength. Current proposed test methods are described. It is proposed that endurance is to be demonstrated by bench testing, animal studies, and carefully controlled clinical studies. Strength characteristics are then used to control the production of the product.
