This paper attempts to describe how a large international manufacturing complex arrived at the decision to convert operations to the metric system with the subsequent issuance of general guidelines from management.
The implementations of metrication from these general guidelines is further explained with a discourse of the metric organizational structure, including channels of communication, rate of conversion, standardization procedures, and personnel training modules. Also included is a typical example of the type of investigation required to derive an internal metric interim standard.
