The background leading to the establishment of a terminology data bank in Qubec is described, and the functioning of the bank is detailed. The importance of distilling the information contained is emphasized. Training of terminologists is discussed, as well as the actual state of the bank today. It is hoped that eventually standardized terminologies will result from the desires of specialists in each field.
