Abstract

A test program was conducted to measure various mechanical properties of three sheet molding compounds, SMC-R25, SMC-R30, and SMC-R65. Static tension tests were conducted in ambient and elevated temperature environments on both dry and moisture preconditioned specimens. Compression, shear, flexure, and impact tests were also conducted; these were performed at ambient temperatures on dry specimens.
