Abstract

This paper is concerned with the static strength of off-axis and angle-ply laminates under uniaxial tension and compression. The experimental data were compared with the tensor polynomial failure criterion, assuming the interaction term based on the Von Mises yield criterion for the isotropic materials. The curing residual stresses are also included in the strength analysis for the angle-ply laminate. The fracture surface was examined using a scanning electron microscope and the results are discussed in conjunction with the failure theory.
