Abstract

In order to predict coolant additive performance in actual engine service by means of short-time laboratory tests, test procedures for coolant additives which include simulated service, corrosion, and vibratory tests have been developed. By choosing suitable test conditions it is possible to gain reliable predictions, determine the weak points of the products, and eliminate additives that are not suited for their purpose.
