The Metal Properties Council (MPC) at the request of several of its member corporations established in 1966 a Task Group to study the availability, applicability, and interpretability of data on radiation effects in reactor structural materials. The Task Group, which first met in November 1966, gave careful study to the needs in this area, especially as related to the needs of electrical utility companies newly embarked upon programs for power generation from nuclear fuel.
