Abstract

Reaction injection molding (RIM) of microcellular urethane elastomers has in a few years become an accepted technology for the production of elastomeric fascias and bumper covers for a variety of automobiles. This technology is now being extended to additional applications, both in automotive and nonautomotive uses. This wide variety of new applications is discussed along with the factors which have caused RIMs rapid growth.
