Abstract

Numerous polyurethane sealants are available to cover a wide variety of applications. They vary substantially in chemical composition and performance characteristics. This leaves the user with the complex problem of evaluating and identifying the best sealant for a particular application. In this paper, we propose a simple, yet detailed technique to facilitate the selection process. The focus of the test programme is its uniformity and reproducibility. The fundamental feature of this rating chart is the flexibility it offers for a range of applications and types of sealants. Finally, the benefit to the user is the one-value rating which defines the relevant characteristics for a particular application.
